The standardization of AADL at an international level is in progress under the authority of the SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers), and more precisely the aerospace division. The AADL standardization committee, of which Axlog is member, is composed of American and European members.
The chairman of the committee is Bruce Lewis (US Army/Amcom). The two co-editors are Peter Feiler (SEI), and Steve Vestal (Honeywell), leader of MetaH.
Standardization meetings are organised every three months.
A first stable version of the AADL standard, version 1.0, has been issued in November 2004. It does not contain annexes.
A second version of the AADL standard is currently under definition. It will improve version 1 and introduce new concepts.
To promote AADL for numerous application domains, and to enable the capitalisation of experiences from different domains in AADL, the standardization committee is open to any propositions for evolutions. The evolutions may consist in changes in the standard itself for the version 2, or in the writing of new annexes provided with the standard.
Thus, several research projects are currently led and feed the works of the committee with their results.
