Axlog activities with AADL
Axlog has a strong will to be be implied in the improvement of the software and system engineering processes.
An architecture description language (ADL) is mandatory to reach these objectives, and AADL is a good candidate.
This explains why Axlog began expert of AADL and promotes the use of this description language by leading studies, projects and developments.
AADL standardization
Axlog is member of the AADL international standardization committee, attends the meetings and follows the works since their beginning.
In this context, Axlog proposes corrections and improvements of the standard.
Evaluation of AADL for various domains
Although the name of AADL refers to avionics, this language may be used in various domains, as shown by the studies led by Axlog:
- In a study for the european space agency (ESA), Axlog has studied the interest of AADL for the space domain.
The result of this study is that AADL may be used in this domain and may be used as a base to support an improved software and system engineering process;
- Axlog also studies the interest of AADL for the automotive domain.
The project AEE has defined an ADL, AIL-transport, to answer similar problematics.
A convergence between these two ADLs should be studied.
In the context of an automotive seminar (in french) organised on November 4th 2003, Axlog presented AADL for this industrial domain;
- For the 6th research and development framework project (FP6) of the European commission, Axlog has participated to the first phase of the ASSERT project, and promotes the use of AADL as a support for a PBSE approach (Proof-Based System Engineering).
This project takes advantages of the results provided by the study about AADL for the space domain.
- Axlog is member of Spices, an ITEA project aiming at using and extending AADL to enable component-based predictable implementations of mission-critical embedded systems associated with certification issues.
Past, present and future events
- October 1st and 2nd 2002: Axlog has organised an AADL seminar at Toulouse;
The web page of this seminar may be found hier;
- November 4th 2003: Axlog organised an automotive seminar (in french), where we tackled the question of the use of AADL for the car industry.
- October 17th and 18th 2005 : Axlog a organized an AADL workshop which was an opportunity to present the language, its evolutions, projects using it, perspectives.
- October 19th to 21st 2005 : Axlog hosted the fall meeting of the AADL standardisation committee.
Software tools supporting AADL
Axlog develops ADeS, a software tool to simulate the behaviour of an architecture described with AADL.
In the context of the ASSERT project, Axlog has developed AADL tool prototypes based on OSATE, the eclipse plug-in for AADL, to support proof-based system engineering techniques.
AADL training
In coordination with its subsidiary Adalog, Axlog proposes AADL training sessions, in French or in English.
A presentation of this training and the future dates are available on this page.
